Extra-Curricular Activities
Traverse City Christian School provides a number of opportunities in addition to sports for students to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Student CouncilThe Student Council plans and organizes a number of events and activities throughout the school year including Homecoming and Spirit Week activities, the Big Brother/Big Sister program, blood drives, Secret Santas, remembering teachers in special ways during Teacher Appreciation Week, emphasizing and leading “See You at the Pole”, and promoting service projects.
PlaysTraverse City Christian School produces two school plays each year. Junior High students participate in a play in late fall and the Senior High play is produced in the spring.
Praise TeamStudents with musical talents, either vocal or instrumental, may participate in the Praise Team which leads worship for Chapel each week.
Academic CompetitionsMath
Junior High students compete in the annual MathCounts competition in February each year. The competition is sponsored by the Northern Michigan Chapter of Professional Engineers. The competition includes students from schools all over the northern Michigan area.
High School students compete in a Math Challenge sponsored by the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Spelling Bee
Junior High students participate in the school and county spelling bees each year.
Literary Contest
A literary contest which is open to all students in grades 7-12 is held in March each school year.
Science FairThe Science Fair is held in March each year and gives students in grades 7-9 an opportunity to do a science project and present results to judges.
